We love a piece of wood with a history and a story to tell. These hand-carved salt cellars by Los Angeles woodworking team Ryan Silverman and Eileen O’Dea tell the tale of a very long, fortuitous road trip. Each unique box is crafted from a single piece of ancient, extinct South American hardwood that most recently completed a 60-year stint as the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Bi-coastal, you bet! But we’ve brought a handful back to the East Coast to meet up with an old friend of sorts - pure Atlantic sea salt harvested from the shores of historic Gloucester, Massachusetts. Heather Ahearn and Alison Darnell, owners of Atlantic Saltworks, have the perfect coastal location for harvesting their all natural flake finishing salt. The high salinity of the North Atlantic, strong tides, and local shellfish in Gloucester all act as a natural filter to give this salt its briny, clean and delicious flavor.
Reclaimed Hardwood Salt Cellar with hinged lid is 3” x 3”. Each Salt Cellar is an original creation crafted from different pieces of wood so you'll see slight variations from the image shown.
